TV One to air America's Cup race with actual racing

America'sCupPeterWilliamsTV One will be screening the first race of the America’s Cup competition where Team New Zealand actually has an opponent.

Emirates Team New Zealand is set to line up against Luna Rossa this Sunday morning NZT in a round robin race – the first time the Kiwis have faced an opposing team on the water since the competition got underway on 8 July NZT.

Presented by Peter Williams (pictured) from TVNZ’s Auckland studios, the sports special will cross live to San Francisco Bay for commentary by ONE NEWS Yachting Correspondent Martin Tasker and yachting personality Peter Lester.

Jeff Latch, Head of TV ONE and TV2, says: “We’re delighted to give viewers a special opportunity to follow America’s Cup action live on TV as Team New Zealand goes head-to-head for the first time in the competition.”

TV ONE’s Breakfast will take live crosses from Team New Zealand’s subsequent round robin races on 22 and 24 July. Fans who want to follow those races in full can see it streamed live attvnz.co.nz/americas-cup.

Schedule changes
• The repeat screening of Tagata Pasifika will be brought forward to 6:35am and the repeat screening of Sunday will be dropped to make way for race coverage.

• The scheduled broadcast of Praise Be will be shortened by 10 minutes and move to the slightly later start time of 8:10am.
